“Drakes song is a reflection of his entry into the rap/hip-hop industry, he talks of the switch to becoming accustom to the hollywood lifestyle he is now experiencing, while is it glamorous, the song expresses his desire for the real friends and relationships that he has lost and damaged while pursuing fame. Just because he doesn’t talk about the poverty he was exposed to, or the drug addicts he’s seen doesn’t mean its not real emotion. Drake has never claimed to be a “Gangster” and it would be ridiculous to judge him as one. A rapper doesnt need to be gangster or have ”street cred”, this isn’t the Mobb deep era, relax with all that.”
